Well fast forward one year to now, and I receive a billing notice to let me know that my annual subscription has just been renewed.įirst of all, I had no awareness that this would renew automatically. It went much like many others, start a free trial, find out that we are being held ransom with qr codes that have already been printed and distributed as part of a campaign, pay the ransom in order to ensure that our campaign is still a success. I thought I would chime in with my own experience. I feel like the only right thing for me to do is to actively let all of my colleagues and clients know how dishonest the sales tactics of QR Code Generator is before they put themselves in the same awkward situation than I am in. Judging by their copy pasted-replies on the negative reviews I can see that they unfortunately have no intention on changing this. I even went back through the full process of creating another QR code on the website to check where I could have missed it, and at no point they make it clear that I was using a trial code that would end up being deactivated until I paid for it after.Īfter looking at the reviews I feel cheated on and I find it particularly dishonest for a business to rely on misleading people for sales this way. I'm usually very wary about the so-called free trials, but in here no credit cards info were asked and no info that the entire code would stop working instead for one feature. I have now printed all of my business cards with their QR code on them, and it has now been deactivated, telling me that I need to purchase a membership to make it work again. The word "Free" kept popping everywhere in the process of creating the QR code, free QR code, create a free account, etc. I should have read the reviews and avoided their services. The key thing here is it doesn't really matter which one you pick, they can all see eachother and you can just move if one goes shitty, without the network going down.Īlso, get a dog and go outside! Its super. I recommend Ice Cubes for Mastodon on iOS, Elk.Zone on Web, and I've been really enjoying Kbin.Social for a federated version of Reddit. However, I'm moving full time to federated networks - they're awesome! And FYI as an OG redditor, people thought reddit was WAY too confusing and hard to use at first too. Non-federated social networks are just huge cash cows, the money is there, and thats okay. This is a bit of a complex relationship, since reddit is a YC company, and the wild ideas out of YC have really been cool!Īt the end of the day, its not reddits fault. Reddit is trying to become facebook groups, and IPO with a high valuation, but the strategies applied to reach that state are totally at odds with the value provided to longtime users like me. The site has been through a ton of changes in that time, but none that have so openly detached the core value the site provides from its userbase. I've used reddit for 15 years over several different accounts.
